Analogue

U2 concert last night was amazing. Bono referred to their song "Beautiful Day" as "beautiful hangover" and I think that's about what it was. The band was fried, but they had fun with it. I've got to remember that.
I'm really sad today to have lost George Harrison. It feels like I've lost an old friend. "Give Me Love, Give Me Peace on Earth". What a fitting message for today. A couple of ironic things to note. The other night I was on the Third Day message board and noted that if all George had ever done was play the slide intro to "Free as a Bird", he'd still be my hero. (George had already died by then) Also, yesterday we got some film developed and there's a picture in which you can see the words "George Harrison" from a book in the foreground. I'll certainly miss him.

This is so Doogie Howser, MD. Writing my cute assessment of the day's events. Or like the Editor's column in a magazine. But isn't that what we all really want? To be able to ramble about what's on our mind and getting our point across and the audience has no way to break in? One day I'll figure out a way for people to comment on my posts. Until then, oh well... The thing that always bothered me about Doogie was that he was always able to make things work out perfectly in the end. Real life just isn't like that. While I'm a firm believer that God's in control of every detail of our lives, you usually can't see it while it's happening. Often it takes looking back to see his hand gently guiding us. Oh well, enough of my yappin'.

OK, so here goes. Hopefully, you've read some of the amazing later entries to Analogue and you've come back to see the humble beginnings of a masterpiece. Or, more realistically, I'm just killing a little time. I've wanted to do something like this ever since I did a daily tour log for the first few Third Day dates supporting "Time" back in 1999. It was posted to some website and viewed by millions, er, dozens. I actually don't know if it was ever even posted. Anyway, it was a great experience and I'm glad to try to do it again.
In "Riding in Cars With Boys", Drew Barrymore's character refers to life as 4 or 5 really big days with bunch of boring stuff in between. That's what my hope for this is. In "Show Me Your Glory" I talk about catching a glimpse of God's splendor "in the corner of my eye". Hopefully that's what this site will become. A bunch of boring and seemingly meaningless details of one boring bloke's life. Sometimes it may be funny. Sometimes it may be stupid. I promise you there will be a lot of lists of my favorite things - I'm all about the lists! But hopefully it will challenge you to cast your eyes upward...
